Book Date: The Tourist Attraction

Happy Book Date Monday! Finally getting to read this one!! :)

Summary from Amazon:
Curl up with a quirky small-town Alaskan rom-com that'll leave you laughing over:

  • grumpy local and the sunny tourist who turns his world upside down
  • rogue moose who threatens to steal every scene
  • vacation you'll never forget
  • And a sweet romance that doesn't need to scald the pages to burn its way into your heart

He had a strict "no tourists" policy...until she broke all of his rules. When Graham Barnett named his diner The Tourist Trap, he meant it as a joke. Now he's stuck slinging reindeer dogs to an endless parade of resort visitors who couldn't interest him less. Not even the sweet, enthusiastic tourist in the corner who blushes every time he looks her way...

Two weeks in Alaska isn't just the top item on Zoey Caldwell's bucket list. It's the whole bucket. One look at the mountain town of Moose Springs and she's smitten. But when an act of kindness brings Zoey into Graham's world, she may just find there's more to the grumpy local than meets the eye...and more to love in Moose Springs than just the Alaskan wilderness.

This story of Alaska marries together all the things you didn't realize you needed: a whirlwind vacation, a friendly moose, a grumpy diner owner, a quirky tourist, plenty of restaurant humor, and a happy ending that'll take you away from it all.

Mount TBR #4

Hi Everyone,

Stopping by with a quick post from my Mount TBR/to be read list...

Summary from Amazon:
When most people think of the making and developing of the Appalachian Trail for the past century, they think of Benton MacKaye and Myron Avery and a few other men. Yet throughout those ten decades, talented, strong, and effective women stood and worked right alongside them--not behind them. Indeed, the meeting that created the Appalachian Trail Conservancy in 1925 was entirely organized by one talented, strong, and effective woman. This is the story of leading lights among that corps of overlooked trail-builders.

Waiting on Wednesday: Golden Girl

Hey Everyone,

No surprise here...I am patiently waiting on the newest book coming from Elin :)

Author: Elin Hilderbrand

Summary from Goodreads:
In this immensely satisfying new page-turner from “the queen of beach reads” (New York Magazine), Nantucket novelist Vivian Howe has one final summer to protect her secrets while her loved ones on earth learn to live without their golden girl.

On a perfect June day, Vivian Howe, author of 13 beach novels and mother of three nearly grown children, is killed in a hit-and-run car accident while jogging near her home on Nantucket. She ascends to the Beyond where she's assigned to a Person named Martha, who allows Vivi to watch what happens below for one last summer. Vivi also is granted three “nudges” to change the outcome of events on earth, and with her daughter Willa on her third miscarriage, Carson partying until all hours, and Leo currently “off again” with his high-maintenance girlfriend, she’ll have to think carefully where to use them.

From the Beyond, Vivi watches “The Chief” Ed Kapenash investigate her death, but her greatest worry is her final book, which contains a secret from her own youth that could be disastrous for her reputation. But when hidden truths come to light, Vivi’s family will have to sort out their past and present mistakes – with or without a nudge of help from above – while Vivi finally lets them grow without her.

With all of Elin’s trademark beach scenes, mouth-watering meals, and picture-perfect homes, plus a heartfelt message – the people we lose never really leave us – Golden Girl is a beach book unlike any other.

Can we please bring on the warmer weather and this book?

Book Date

Hi Everyone,

I am coming off a GraphicAton weekend and my first week of the semester so decided to keep it rolling with this one.

Details from Amazon:
Another graphic novel in this fresh and fun series spin-off of The Baby-sitters Club, featuring Kristy's little stepsister!

It's going to be a great weekend! Karen has new roller skates and is a very good skater. She's looking forward to trying some new tricks. But, oh no! Karen falls down and has to go to the hospital. Her wrist is broken!

Karen is determined to get everyone she knows -- plus someone famous -- to sign her cast. It isn't going to be easy, but she won't give up until the job is done.

I loved the BSC as a kid!

Mount TBR Book #2: When Dimple Met Rishi

Hi Everyone,

Stopping by with another book from my Mount TBR stack. This one was so cute!

Author: Sandhya Menon

Summary from Amazon:

The rom-com everyone’s talking about! Eleanor & Park meets Bollywood in this hilarious and heartfelt novel about two Indian-American teens whose parents conspire to arrange their marriage.

Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she’s more than ready for a break from her family, from Mamma’s inexplicable obsession with her finding the “Ideal Indian Husband.” Ugh. Dimple knows they must respect her principles on some level, though. If they truly believed she needed a husband right now, they wouldn’t have paid for her to attend a summer program for aspiring web developers…right?

Rishi Patel is a hopeless romantic. So when his parents tell him that his future wife will be attending the same summer program as him—wherein he’ll have to woo her—he’s totally on board. Because as silly as it sounds to most people in his life, Rishi wants to be arranged, believes in the power of tradition, stability, and being a part of something much bigger than himself.

The Shahs and Patels didn’t mean to start turning the wheels on this “suggested arrangement” so early in their children’s lives, but when they noticed them both gravitate toward the same summer program, they figured, Why not?

Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when opposites clash, love works hard to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.

Have you read it? What did you think?

Mount TBR: Book #1-Letters to the Lost

The Virtual Mount TBR Challenge is just what I need...again. More details here. In an effort to continue to read books I own, I will be signing up for this one again.

The first book that I finished on my backlist is:

Details from Amazon:

Secret letters spark true love in this emotionally compelling romance from the New York Times bestselling author of A Curse So Dark and Lonely, Brigid Kemmerer.

Juliet Young always writes letters to her mother, a world-traveling photojournalist. Even after her mother’s death, she leaves letters at her grave. It’s the only way Juliet can cope.

Declan Murphy isn’t the sort of guy you want to cross. In the midst of his court-ordered community service at the local cemetery, he’s trying to escape the demons of his past.

When Declan reads a haunting letter left beside a grave, he can't resist writing back. Soon, he’s opening up to a perfect stranger, and their connection is immediate. But neither Declan nor Juliet knows that they're not actually strangers. When life at school interferes with their secret life of letters, sparks will fly as Juliet and Declan discover truths that might tear them apart.
