Personal Review:

I have to be honest with you guys, I don't really read much poetry. That said for the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge there is a box that says read a book of poetry. When Meia contacted me about reading her book, I thought this is a good way to accomplish a review and to check that box.

That said, this book is so much more than checking the box. You can tell from the very beginning that it is a book about life. It is filled with stories, emotions, and a series of items that make up a person's life. I enjoyed reading them even thought is beyond my normal comfort zone.

If there is one take away that I am taking from this book it is this. Life is full of moments. There are times when things don't always go quite the way you think that will. That is okay. Enjoy life for what it is.  Thank you Meia for the chance to read your book.

Book Review: Rhapsody (Reverie Book #2)

Do you guys remember Reverie? The book about classical music and romance? I am happy to let you know that there is a second book! I always get nervous about the second books, second movies, etc. but I have to say that this book didn't disappoint. The book kept my attention all the way through. 

The best part of this book for me was that we got to catch up with Jeremy and Julia. Julia is still the emotional one (in a good way). Jeremy is still as ambitious as ever and when things happen, he steps up to deal with it. As you know we don't spoilers here on the blog, so I don't want to say too much.

I enjoyed the romance in this book. I think that I really like the combo of being passionate about something (like your work/music) and the passion that it can ignite when you find that in another person. This book has an interesting plot and I appreciated that.

I recommend this book for those that have an interest in love stories or those who have a passion for the arts. For those that enjoy both, this is the book for you. Thanks Lauren for the opportunity to read this book.

September Rewind

Hi Everyone,

Happy September wrap up! Fall is here and I am so excited. I am here to report that I have finished 19 books, with a few others as re-reads but I am not counting those! I have been rewatching Gilmore Girls to get ready for the new episodes in November, so I have been a little distracted.

Book Review: In the Land of Broken Time

Author: Max and Maria Evans (Semin)

Review:
Do you love adventure? Then this may be the book for you. This is a middle grade novel about Christopher, Sophia, and their dog Duke. They end going on a experience that they will never forget.

There are several things I liked about this book. I liked the imagination and the challenges that the children had to deal with. I don't give spoilers here on the blog, so I don't want to mention too much that will ruin it. When the children end up on an adventure they had not planned, there is certain to be some stories that go along with it.

Another item I enjoyed about this book was the tips. I like children's books that have a good message and I appreciated the thoughts that the authors share.

The illustrations throughout the book were great and it sometimes reminded me of some parts of the Wizard of Oz. I appreciate this book and the opportunity to review it. Thank you Max and Maria!

Reading Recap

Hi Everyone!

Just stopping by with a couple of quick updates on books that I have been reading lately.

The Poet’s Dog
This book was stunning. I loved it. This book takes what you know a story like this to be like, but then flips it around and tells it to you from the perspective of a talking dog. I cried, but it was beautiful and moving. So many wonderful things I could say about this book.

The Littlest Bigfoot
I enjoyed this book. I was not sure what I would think of Jennifer Weiner’s book geared at a younger age, but I really liked it. The book was filled with a lot of imagination and I think it was good to see how everyone has their place in the world.

Logan’s Secret
Another dog book! This one is told from the greyhound perspective on what he experienced. I enjoyed seeing and resonating with some of the topics that Logan explains as he works to retire and find his ‘furever’ home. I enjoyed this book.

Being a Dog
An interesting book about the world of 'dog cognition." I had never put much thought into this until I read the book, but I enjoyed it very much. It made complete sense to me that what the dog sees and knows come through his nose. My dog is constantly smelling the world around him and it is fascinating to understand how it works. I would recommend this book for anyone interested in dogs and science.

Book Review: Bailey's Remarkable Plan

Personal Review:
Do you love stories about dogs? Do you want to read a story that will inspire you to make a difference? Look no further, this is the book for you!

In this book, we meet David, who is sick. Things are not easy for him. However, things start to change a bit when he meets Bailey. Bailey is a Shih Tzu that has been trained to give early warning to when things might go awry for David.

As a note for my readers, this book has some religious content. I thought that was fine, but I want to be sure I give people a heads up about it. As someone who enjoys a good story about dogs, I found this book to be exactly that. I love the bond between human and animal.

This book makes me think about service dogs and the role they play. What a wonderful thing that we train dogs to help us (and help David) in times of need. Animals play a special role in our world and I am so glad/grateful.

I enjoyed this book and am thankful for the opportunity to have read it. Thank you David and Brown Books for the opportunity. While I did not pay for this book, all opinions are my own.
