Personal Review:
I enjoyed this book.  I picked it up because I won it off Good Reads. (If you’re curious about my review of the first one in the series, please check here).

My favorite part of this book was the plot. These books are quick reads and they are ones you can easily get engrossed in, hoping to find out what happened! I imagine that the audience for these is one who loves an adventure with a little mystery included. 

I was a little confused by the side case that was included that her father was working on. It sounded like an interesting case as well, but it seemed a little out of place. I could almost see that being a second book on its own.

Overall, a well written book.

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to stop by with a quick post about Book Con. For those of you unfamiliar it is an annual convention held to celebrate authors and books. I was very fortunate to have attended the events recently in New York City.

While at the convention, you have a chance to see panels of your favorite authors, get autographs, pick up some of the new releases coming out, and meet other book lovers! Next year's event will be held in Chicago. I will add a few pictures here to show you some of the fun times I had.

I recommend attending if you ever get the chance!

Book Review: Sister Eve, Private Eye

Summary from Goodreads:

This book follows ‘Sister Eve’ as she takes a break from work to return home to take care of her father Jackson Divine. Her father is a retired police captain who now serves as a private detective. Prior to his surgery, he had agreed to take on a case of a missing Hollywood director. When the missing man becomes a murder victim and her father is recovering, it soon up Sister Eve to help solve the case. The book is her adventures in doing so and along the way, the self-discovery of a vocation near and dear to her heart.

Personal Review:
I really enjoyed this book.  I picked it up because I won a copy of the second one in the series off of Good Reads. (Review of that one to come!) If you enjoyed the Sister Act movies, it was along that line with some suspense, a mystery, but also some self-discovery. I loved those movies as a child, so this book was very comfortable for me.
 
I liked that I could read this one pretty quickly and that I was not sure who was guilty. I found the conclusion to be an interesting one. I am looking forward to reading the second book.

Book Review: Steve Jobs-Insanely Great

Personal Review:
I really enjoyed this book. I think the fact that was different from my regular reads set it apart. I liked that there were pictures that animated the story of Steve’s life. Whatever your opinion of him or his products, there are some interesting philosophies that I believe are helpful in life. One of those is the concept of simplicity. The older I get the more inclined I am to want to have a simple, easier life. Life is not easy and it is not easy to do this, but something I strive for.

Additionally, I love that Steve didn’t let his creative stop. You can tell from early in life, he thought and dreamed big. I love that. The quote near the beginning of the book is great. “Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The square pegs in round holds. The ones who see things differently. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” That’s some powerful thoughts there!
