Bookish and Not So--Animal Crossing

Wednesday, October 20, 2021

Hi Everyone,

This week's not-so-bookish post is about Animal Crossing. I discovered this game during March 2020, just when I needed it. They announced a couple of big updates coming out on November 5th and I am so excited!

Have you played before?

Bookish (and Not So): 80's

Wednesday, June 23, 2021

Hi Everyone,

Just stopping by with a not so Bookish thought today....this time about 80's music and how much I have appreciated this genre to get me through the last little bit. It was my Dad's favorite and I miss him immensely. Lately, I have 80's going while I do homework and somehow it makes me feel a little better. I hope that everyone can find some tunes that make them feel better!

Anyone got an 80's themed book recommendations?

Happy Listening (and Reading)!

Bookish (and not so)...

Wednesday, June 9, 2021

Hi Everyone,

Happy Thursday. Today I am stopping by with some not so bookish thoughts. I wanted to just share a bit about craft projects I have been working on. Sometimes I just need a break to do something creative. To that end, I have discovered Aqua Beads. Have you ever tried or used them? They are magic beads you put in a design and then spray to set. Similar to perler, but no baking involved.

I have been trying to find some new patterns. Anyone try these or have patterns to share?

Happy Crafting and Reading!

Bookish and not so Bookish Thoughts

Wednesday, August 12, 2020

Hi Everyone,

Stopping by with another Book and not so Bookish thoughts. Today I am sharing my thoughts on this phrase that has been circling in my head. The phrase is 'give me life.' I picked this up from the song Zen by X-ambassadors. The idea is that despite everything in the world right now the singer is looking for those things that give him life.

I have been thinking about that quite a bit and trying to figure out the things that give me life despite the pandemic, despite everything in the world:

1) Foods. I guess in a literal sense food gives me life. But more so, I have learned to really savor those things that I don't readily always have available. Especially are my loves for fresh fruits and veggies right now.

2) My kittens. I am truly grateful for these two each and every single day. I am so beyond lucky for the ability to do my job at home and get to spend this time with them.

3) Books. I am not able to travel and that has been incredibly hard on me. Books allow me to escape the world for just a bit.

What are the things bringing you life right now?

Bookish and Not So Bookish Thoughts: COVID-19

Thursday, March 26, 2020

Hi Everyone,

Thought I would pop in on this Thursday with some bookish and not bookish thoughts. The world around us is experiencing some uncertainty.

I hope that this finds you safe, healthy, and able to take care of yourselves.  In light of that, I thought I would share a few things that have helped me throughout this time and may be of interest.

1) Of course Books! There are lots of ways to get books to read.  My favorite is my local Overdrive Account from my library. I realize not everyone has access to a library thought so I thought I would share a few other sources for books- https://openlibrary.org/  and https://stories.audible.com/start-listen

2) Book related content-I have learned to love Elephant and Piggy from the eyes of my nieces. Each day at lunch Mo Williems has been doing a video doodle. Follow along on Youtube.

 https://www.youtube.com/user/TheKennedyCenter

3) Iheartradio.com. This is great for tunes, but also for Podcasts. Personally, I have found I really enjoy breaking it up with a good podcast. Let me know your favorites!

4) Carmen Sandiego content. First, I love this series. I love that they further made lessons related to the content. https://www.carmensandiego.com/resources/

5) Smithsonian Discovery Lab and Podcasts. Our world is so vast and there is much to learn. Which is why I love this place. https://learninglab.si.edu/#sll-create

Bonus: I heard this on Good Morning America the other day-what is something that has always interested you? Why not take an hour and learn 5 new things about it. It can be anything music, comics, history, famous people...anything.

How are you staying busy during this time? How are you doing? Feel free to drop a line!

(Note: None of these are paid/sponsored advertisements...just thoughts that I thought would be good and wanted to share for those that are looking for something to do.)
Happy Reading!

Thursday: Bookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts

Thursday, January 23, 2020

Hi Everyone,

Stopping by to tell you about another new bookish meme. This one is called
Bookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts. It is hosted by Bookishly Boisterous.

Description: Bookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts is a chance for book bloggers to dabble in areas besides books (but those are welcome too). Share your plans for the weekend, a rant on people not using their turn signals in parking lots, or your love of Sunday morning mimosas.

So for this week, I would like to feature my cats, because books and cats? Why not!

This is Raja and Amirah. They just turned 9 in March. They keep me on my toes!

Do you have a pet?
