Today I am excited to be participating with Irish Banana on a book tour! It is the first of a couple tours that I will be trying for something new on the blog! I  hope you enjoy. Today I am proudly featuring ways in which you can make a decision.

The thing about life is that we are all unique. We each have qualities that make us who we are and that help us to shape how we approach the decisions that we make. Since each of have a different way of the making sense of the world around us, we go based on what we perceive to be the right decision.  Sometimes those thoughts are guided by feeling, sometime they are guided by logic. Sometimes there are other factors or people that intervene. The truth of this matter is that as we accept our choices, we also have to deal with the possibility of any consequences.

I was recently provided the opportunity to read the book, the V-word. In this book there are several conversations that happen related to when people decide to lose their virginity. These are discussions by real people that are their realities.’ I am not in a position to judge or say that I believe that they made the right/wrong choices. Rather, I would like to have a conversation with my readers about ways in which you can make decisions. This may be about the topic of the book or about any situation that you are confronted with.

Here are a 5 ideas for decision making:

Trust your instinct. I have often heard the saying that your gut knows best. There are some people who use this to make choices.

Create a Pro/Con List. What are the advantages/disadvantages to each of the situations that you are in? Which one has more positive choices?

Talk it through with a trusted friend. Sometimes it is helpful to get another person’s perspective. They may have a different point of view than you and that is okay! Consider their words and try to be objective.

Do your homework.  Have other people made this decision? How did they come to the decision that they did? Is there a book you can read to get additional background on the situation?

Think about the bigger picture and your long term goals. Does this meet the standard that you have in your head about how you want your life to go? Know what it is that you want to achieve and write it down. Research says if you do, you will be more likely to accomplish it.

How do you make decisions? Do you have strategies that you use?

I hope that you enjoyed this post! Be sure to check out the book (more information below!) that sparked this discussion.

Until next time…Happy Reading!

ABOUT THE V-WORD:HAVING SEX FOR THE FIRST TIME IS A BIG UNKNOWN. LOTS OF PEOPLE WILL TELL YOU WHAT TO DO, BUT IS ANYONE TELLING YOU WHAT IT’S REALLY LIKE?

The V-Word pulls back the sheets on sex. Queer and straight. Relished and regretted. Funny and exhilarating. The seventeen women in this book (including Christa Desir, Justina Ireland, Sara Ryan, Carrie Mesrobian, Erica Lorraine Scheidt, and Jamia Wilson) write about first-time sex—hot, meaningful, cringe-worthy, gross, forgettable, magnificent, empowering, and transformative.

Whether you’re diving in or whether you’re waiting, we hope these stories will help you chart your own course.

  1. When it comes to decisions, I'm a Rory Gilmore type, and I make Pro/Con lists. I don't know if I'd ever make one when it comes to the topic of this book, but for other big decisions, yes.

    1. I like Pro Cons list too! (and Gilmore Girls :)) I realize that it may not be the best way to make a decision like this one, but sometimes you just need to think through all parts of a situation. That's where I find it helpful! Thanks for stopping by the blog.
